The National Safe Schools Roundtable (NSSR) is a coalition of people and organizations from across the United States who are substantively involved, on a professional and/or volunteer basis, in making schools safe and welcoming for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) youth.
The mission of the NSSR is to enhance the effectiveness of the LGBTQ safe schools movement nationwide.
Supported by an annual in-person convening, NSSR works to:
• Facilitate the communication, coordination and collaboration of organizations engaged in safe schools work nationwide;
• Educate funders on the depth and breadth of the safe schools movement in order to maximize their investment in the sector; and
• Build bridges with other organizations not currently engaged in LGBTQ safe schools work, including those who work toward civil and human rights, violence prevention, social justice, education and health.
